Random Bits 2

6. Second flat tire in two weeks today. Awesome.

7. Did it freak anyone else out the first time you saw the Watson's guy without his moustache? He looks like his younger cousin. I wouldn't have recognized him except that the Watson's girl is still in the commercials.

8. Diet pills: Why does anyone think these will work? First of all, if some miracle pill is invented, it will be patented by one of the large pharmaceutical companies and sold by prescription only. That way the government, HMO's, and pharm companies all make money off of what will be an incredibly lucrative product. If this ever happens, your doctor will be quick to prescribe it for you. They won't need Anna Nicole or cheesy daytime commercials. Second, if some product like this becomes available, all of the celebrities and wealthy people of the world will buy it up and there will be huge waiting lists. You won't be able to find it next to the cash register at Walgreen's. Those commercials annoy the tar out of me, and people who buy the products only fuel the fire.

Random bits

1. I just adore Oprah. She is everything I aspire to be.

2. If I haven't plugged it lately, let me point you all to the wonder that is Lush. I highly recommend you buy all of the girls in your life something from this place, and get something for yourself while you're at it. If enough Nashvillians start ordering their stuff, eventually we'll get a store!

3. My current favorite lyricists are the Black-Eyed Peas. Examples:

"Girl, you had me, once you kissed me
My love for you is not iffy
I always want you with me
I'll play Bobby and you’ll play Whitney
If you smoke, I'll smoke too
That’s how much I'm in love with you
Crazy is what crazy do
Crazy in love, I'm a crazy fool "

"What you gon’ do with all that junk?
All that junk inside your trunk?
I’ma get, get, get, get, you drunk,
Get you love drunk off my hump.
My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump,
My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps.
Check it out. "

And last but not least,

"I met a girl down at the disco.
She said hey, hey, hey yea let’s go.
I could be your baby, you can be my honey
Lets spend time not money.
I mix your milk wit my cocoa puff,
Milky, milky cocoa,
Mix your milk with my cocoa puff, milky, milky riiiiiiight. "

4. While in line at Walmart this afternoon, I leafed through the John Lennon tribute magazine from Life. I was turned onto the Beatles in college, relatively late in life (especially for someone as into music as I have always been). Each of the Fab Four is incredibly talented individually, but their chemistry together was magic. I have such a respect for who John Lennon was and who he wanted to be, both musically and personally. Not many people have this much impact 25 years after their deaths.

5. I am looking forward to one of my favorite holiday experiences, discovered accidentally when I was a teenager - sleeping on the sofa in front of the Christmas tree with all the lights on. Try it - you will feel like a kid again.

Happy Friday!

I hate tag...

....except on a computer. Angie got me - so here goes!

Ground Rules: The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic "5 weird habits of yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a blog entry about their 5 weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 5 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "You are tagged" in their blog and tell them to read yours.
"Like a nun, I'm in the habit..."

1. I ramble, especially when it's late and/or I'm tired.
2. I'm a slob (okay, so this isn't so much a weird habit as just a bad one).
3. I make sure all the doors in my room (hallway, closet, bathroom) are closed before I go to bed every night, or I can't sleep.
4. I can't listen to a song I know without singing along. Well, it's really hard, anyway.
5. I can't sleep without reading for a bit first. Just can't do it.

I feel like I should have had something cute and quirky, but that's all I can come up with! You'll notice how many of them have to do with sleeping. That's because sleeping is one of the things I do best.

Passing the torch onto: Tara, Phil, Malia, Jennifer T, and Katie. Have fun, guys! I'm off for a nap!
