Although I think there are those who would disagree. Explains why my grandmother from rural Giles county has a hard time understanding me, though.

My husband says that our accents have more to do with our "mother tongue" than where we have lived. Do you have ancestors from that area of the country?
The survey said my accent was as Philadelphia as a cheesesteak. They're right. My hometown is 30 minutes from Philly (Wilmington, Delaware). And yes, some people do think my accent is strange or can't place it--they guess New York, New Jersey?
